Hello Bridge Families!

It is hard to believe that March is almost over!

Please read the important updates below:

Parent conferences are being held through Google Meets on Thursday, April 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Friday, April 9, from 1:30 to 3:00 PM.

To sign up for conferences, CLICK HERE.

Important:
Be sure to include an accurate email address and your child’s name when you sign up.
Teachers will email you a Google Meet code before your conference; check your email prior to the conference.
If all of the slots fill up, you can email the teacher with any concerns or questions; teacher email addresses are in Powerschool and under the staff tab on our website: bridgeacademy.org.

FAMILY MEETING: HOW TO SUPPORT STUDENTS’ SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL AND ACADEMIC WELL-BEING: MONDAY, APRIL 5
Join us for a discussion on how we can support our students as they navigate the pandemic, school and life.

We will have tips for parents and information on organizations that are available to help families deal with the sometimes challenging years of adolescence.

Monday, April 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

To join the discussion, CLICK HERE at 6:00 on April 5.

EMPOWERING ACTIVITIES FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS
Bridge is partnering with a wonderful organization called Full Circle Youth Empowerment to offer students and families positive activities and support.

Attached, please find flyers for these free opportunities.

END OF YEAR TRIPS?
At the end of most school years we usually plan trips to places such as Six Flags or Holiday Hills. These places are now back open and accepting reservations. Such trips would require a bus ride and Bridge Academy would not be the only school at the venues. Masks would be worn on any such trips, both on the bus and at the parks. The cost of these trips is usually around $45.

Please fill out this brief survey to let us know if you would be comfortable with your child participating in an end of year trip:

FREE TAX PREPARATION
Below are a number of ways that you can get your taxes done for free:
Call 211 or visit https://www.211ct.org/ and enter “tax prep” and your ZIP code to find Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) help.
Go to the Burroughs Community Center Monday-Friday between 9 and 5 to have your tax documents scanned and prepared later. (This option shows up on 211ct.org, too.)
Go to https://www.getyourrefund.org/HCC-CT and upload your documents securely.
If you have used the Housatonic Community College VITA site in the past and/or want to use us this year, you may also have your documents scanned at Burroughs AND request that they be sent to the HOCC preparers.
Do it yourself: Go to https://www.irs.gov/ and click on “File Your Taxes for Free.” Follow the links and choose your favorite tax prep software. Our tax expert recommends TurboTax because it’s one of two that offer the free state return and the other is less well known.
If you have questions, contact Holly Fenquet, licensed volunteer tax preparer, at hfranquet@ecmc.org.

CALENDAR
Next week there is NO SCHOOL on Friday, April 2, for Good Friday.

Also, there is no school the week of April 12 through 16 for Spring Break.

Enjoy!

MIDDLE SCHOOL SCIENCE TEST: 8th GRADE
On Tuesday and Thursday this week in-person 8th graders will be taking the Next Generation Science Test.

Encourage your children to put in full effort on this important assessment!

We still have a few spots left for next year’s 7th grade class.

If you know of a sixth grade family looking for a good school, encourage them to apply on our website: bridgeacademy.org.

Have a great day!
