Hello Bridge Families!
It’s rainy like crazy as I write this, but I suppose it could be worse; it could be snow.
Our students continue to learn, progress and thrive; we are continually impressed by their resilience and perseverance!
Here are some important school updates:
- BRIDGE ACADEMY IS HIRING!
We are looking for dynamic individuals to immediately begin work as substitutes and paraprofessionals in classrooms supporting students and teachers. Applicants must have a four-year college degree. The positions are full-time and pay $120 a day. Interested applicants should submit their resume to me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- SPECIAL EDUCATION INFORMATION SESSION: IMPORTANT CORRECTION!
If your child receives special education services, or if you are interested in learning more about such services, please join us for an informational session with special education expert and Bridge Academy Board member Peggy Bud.
For your convenience, we are holding the meeting twice at two different times.
CORRECTION: Both meetings are being held this Tuesday, March 2, NOT Wednesday, March 3, as previously stated. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Here is how to join the meetings: just click the link at the appropriate time, then click Join Now. The same topics will be covered at both meetings so you only need to attend one:
12:00 to 1:00 PM
6:00 to 7:00 PM
- NEW CHROMEBOOKS FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS!
All middle school students will be getting new chromebooks this Monday, March 1!
The chromebooks our students have are getting old and are not compatible with some educational programs we would like to use so we are replacing them.
All in-person students must remember to bring both their Bridge Academy chromebook AND charger to school on Monday so we can switch them out.
All fully remote families will need to come to Bridge to pick up their new chromebook.
Students have been doing a great job of keeping their chromebooks clean and safe; we look forward to them continuing to be responsible with their new devices.
- SPIRIT WEEK!
SPIRIT WEEK NEXT WEEK!
March 1 – 5, 2021
Here are the themes for Spirit Week:
Monday: I Have a Dream Day (not a dress down day): You will be asked to write down your dreams for yourself, your community and/or the world. You should think ahead about what your dreams are so you are ready to write on Monday!
Here is a link to a brief clip (about a minute) from Martin Luther King’s speech. It might help you to think of some ideas. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fR-PReWhMGM
Tuesday: Time Travel Dress Down Day: Dress up as a Black or hispanic person from history who you have admired or been inspired by.
Thursday: Rep your culture dress down day: Wear the colors of the Puerto Rican or Jamaican flag!
Wear a traditional African shirt!
These are just suggestions. You can think of other ways to dress to represent your heritage.
Friday: Flash Forward Dress Down Day: Dress up as your dream job; For example, want to be a professional athlete? Wear a sports jersey. Want to be a lawyer? Wear a suit. Want to be a nurse or doctor? Wear scrubs.
- BOARD MEETINGS
Bridge Academy is run by two Boards: the Governing Council and the Executive Board.
Governing Council meetings are held on the first Monday of every month from 6:00 to 7:00. Executive Board meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month.
Our meetings are held virtually. If you would like to attend one or both of our meetings this week, or are interested in participating every month, let me know!
