Chris Moffat helped found The Bridge Academy Charter School and spent over 20 years there as a math teacher until he retired in 2021 due to his health as he was entrenched in a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
On board from our very beginnings Chris was ready for any and everything as we moved into becoming the Bridge Academy as we know it. In addition to teaching sophomore and senior math classes, Chris was our senior class advisor for many years, managing the school yearbook, planning graduation events and our junior/senior prom. Chris also served on the school’s Governing Board for many years, managed supply purchases and was our first line of technical support. He took pride in all of his work here, even ringing the bell for class changes.
Chris brought his ethical standards and strong sense of decency into his classroom and there are hundreds of young folks in Bridgeport who will cherish him for the imprint these ideals made on their lives. Chris Moffat will always be recalled with great affection by the founders, staff, and those many former students that he reached. Our hearts go out to his loving family.
He was passionate about effecting the most positive change in his students and he loved his coworkers.
Rest In Peace, Mr. Moffat
